Tsavo West

Tsavo West

Tsavo West National Park, located in southeastern Kenya, is a stunningly diverse landscape that blends rugged wilderness with scenic beauty. Covering about 9,000 square kilometers, the park is characterized by rolling volcanic hills, lava flows, natural springs, and open savannahs. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, and numerous bird species. One of its most famous attractions is Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground streams from the Chyulu Hills, where visitors can view hippos and crocodiles through an underwater observation chamber. Other notable sites include the Shetani Lava Flow, Chaimu Crater, and Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, which protects the endangered black rhino. The park offers excellent opportunities for game drives, bird watching, hiking, and nature photography. With its dramatic scenery and rich biodiversity, Tsavo West provides a more mountainous and lush contrast to the open plains of Tsavo East, making it a perfect destination for adventure and exploration.
